I feel that to learn from me, and learn how to teach your child, you need to know my teaching history. I have an BS.Ed. from Shippensburg University. I started teaching in the fall of 1999, and immediately started back to school to become a Reading Specialist. This involved getting my Masters Degree as well from Shippensburg (M.Ed.).
I finished my Masters program in 2001, and had already been teaching as a Reading Specialist at a local school district. I switched schools and took a job at my local school district at the Middle School level (grades 6-7) after teaching for three years at the Elementary level. I stayed in that position for three years, and then after my son came home from Guatemala, I was offered a job with a local Intermediate Unit (unique to PA) where I now teach students low in reading and math. I also teach English as a Second Language students as well as gifted students!
It is also important for you to know I served as president for the Franklin County Reading Council for over two years. During my presidency our council won the Presidents Leadership Award, and the Exemplary Council Award. I also served at the state board level for the Keystone State Reading Assocation, where I presented at the state level conference. Teaching is definitely my passion!!!
